Na lang wachten is het binnenkort zo ver en zullen de startlichten voor de Supersport 300 klasse van het IDM voor het eerst dit seizoen weer branden. Het Molenaar Racing Team is klaar voor actie!
Nadat de oorspronkelijk geplande openingsrace van het IDM-seizoen van 30 april tot 2 mei in Lausitz werd geschrapt was het afwachten tot er meer duidelijkheid zou komen over wanneer het seizoen zou beginnen. Onlangs kwam het verlossende bericht naar buiten dat er groen licht kon worden gegeven voor de start van het IDM seizoen 2021 op vrijdag 21 mei in Oschersleben. Thom Molenaar en Sven Doornenbal van het Molenaar Racing Team hebben in maart hun trainingsweek in Spanje afgerond met de KTM RC390’s en de afgelopen weken werden er de nodige meters gemaakt met de Supermotards. Het team is dan ook helemaal klaar voor vertrek naar de Motorsport Arena van Oschersleben, waar het seizoen vrijdag wordt geopend met drie vrije trainingen van ieder 20 minuten. Op zaterdag volgen er 2 kwalificatietrainingen, waarna de startposities bekend zullen zijn. Op zondagochtend is er een warming up, gevolgd door twee races in de middag. Het voorlopige tijdschema ziet er als volgt uit:

Zoals het er nu naar uitziet is de kans groot dat de overige races van het IDM ook doorgang zullen vinden, gebaseerd op de lokale voortgang van de vaccinaties en dalende besmettingsaantallen. Uiteraard worden er strikte protocollen gehanteerd en vinden de evenementen plaats zonder publiek. Start of the IDM Supersport 300 season is near
After waiting for a long time the starting lights for the IDM Supersport 300 races will be on again in a couple of days. The Molenaar Racing Team is ready for action!
After the originally planned opening race of the IDM season from April 30 to May 2 in Lausitz was canceled, we had to wait until more clarity about when the season would really start was given. Recently the redeeming message came out that there was confirmation of the start of the IDM season 2021 on Friday May 21st in Oschersleben. Thom Molenaar and Sven Doornenbal of the Molenaar Racing Team completed their test week in Spain with the KTM RC390’s in March and in recent weeks they completed training sessions with their Supermotards. The team is now ready for departure to the Motorsport Arena in Oschersleben, where the season opens on Friday with three free practice sessions of 20 minutes each. Two qualifying sessions will follow on Saturday, after which the positions on the starting grid will be known. On Sunday morning there is a warming up, followed by two races in the afternoon. The provisional timetable is as follows:

At this moment it looks like after Oschersleben the IDM season will continue as scheduled, based on the local progress of the vaccinations and decreasing infection numbers. Of course, strict protocols are used and the events take place without an audience.
