Het Molenaar Racing Team zal in actie komen tijdens de vijfde ronde van het FIM World Superbike kampioenschap in Assen. De twee wildcards die voor de World Supersport 300 klasse te vergeven waren zijn aan Thom Molenaar en Sven Doornenbal toegekend.
Het prestigieuze World Superbike kampioenschap rijdt normaal gesproken hun wedstrijd in Assen in april, maar het seizoen kende een late start en de wedstrijd werd verplaatst naar het weekend van 23 tot en met 25 juli. De coureurs van het Molenaar Racing Team kregen afgelopen maandag het heugelijke nieuws te horen dat ze daarbij met een wildcard aan de start mogen verschijnen. Geweldig nieuws, en het team laat er dan ook de IDM wedstrijd in Schleiz, die in hetzelfde weekend wordt verreden, voor schieten.
Het reglement van de WSSP 300-klasse is anders dan dat van het IDM, en dus wordt er door het team hard gewerkt om de KTM RC390’s optimaal te prepareren. Ook de coureurs zijn uitermate gemotiveerd om topfit aan de start van de wedstrijd te verschijnen. “We hopen natuurlijk dat er tegen die tijd weer publiek aanwezig mag zijn, en gaan ons uiterste best doen om een mooie prestatie neer te zetten voor onze sponsors en fans”, zegt een enthousiaste Thom Molenaar.
De coureurs zullen met de KTM’s in Arie Molenaar Motors/Nutec-kleuren op vrijdag twee vrije trainingen verrijden, op zaterdag een Superpole en de eerste race, gevolgd door een warming up en tweede race op zondag.
Wildcard for Molenaar Racing Team at World Superbikes in Assen
The Molenaar Racing Team will take part during the fifth round of the FIM World Superbike Championship in Assen. The available wildcards for the World Supersport 300 class were awarded to Thom Molenaar and Sven Doornenbal.
The prestigious World Superbike Championship usually runs their race in Assen in April, but the season got off to a late start and the race was rescheduled to July 23-25. The Molenaar Racing Team received the news that they may appear at the start with a wildcard last Monday. Great news, and the team is skipping the IDM race in Schleiz, which is held in the same weekend.
The regulations of the WSSP 300 class are different from those of the IDM, so the team is working hard to optimally prepare the KTM RC390s. The riders are also extremely motivated to appear in top condition at the race. “Of course we hope that spectators will be welcome again by then, and we will do our utmost to put in a great performance for our sponsors and fans”, says Thom Molenaar.
The riders will have two free practice sessions with the Arie Molenaar Motors/Nutec colored KTM’s on Friday, a Superpole and the first race at Saturday, followed by a warm-up and second race on Sunday.
